Every year, the Staff Selection Commission administers the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) Exam at the federal level of government to choose Higher Secondary qualified candidates for various Indian government departments and agencies. The SSC CHSL (10+2) Exam is required for the following positions:
Lower Division Clerk, Junio Secretary Assistant, Postal Assistant, Sorting Assistant, and Data Entry Operator posts. The SSC will choose and propose candidate for the Assistant/Clerk roles depending on how well they perform in on computer-based test, skill test, or typing test. There are two stages, or Tiers, to the SSC CHSL Exam. The entire registration and form filling process is done online using the official SSC CHSL website. Educational Qualification (as on 01/08/2024)
For LDC/JSA and DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ (except DEOs in Department/ Ministry): The candidates who are planning to appear in the CHSL 2024 exam must have passed the 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.
For Data Entry Operator (DEO)/ DEO Grade ‘A’ in Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Ministry of Culture): 12th Standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent.
SSC CHSL 2024 Exam Pattern
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) starts conducting the Combined Higher Secondary Level(CHSL) in two levels for various posts:

Before beginning the SSC CHSL preparation, it is important to make note of changes in the exam pattern and syllabus. The modifications to SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2024 are given below:
• SSC CHSL 2024 Tier 1 exam will be conducted in online mode.
• Introduction of a descriptive paper of 100 marks within 60 minutes in pen and paper mode.
• Reduction in the time limit for examination of Tier -I from 75 minutes to 60 minutes.
• Tier II will include Objective Multiple Choice + Skill Test & Typing Test.
This is an objective exam that will be conducted online. There are 4 sections in the Tier 1 exam of SSC CHSL Exam, with 100 questions that account for a total of 200 marks. The subject-wise details are given below:

Important Points:
• The exam duration is 75 minutes for candidates who are visually handicapped.
There is negative marking in SSC CHSL 2024 Tier 1 Exam. Giving a wrong answer to a question will lead to a penalty of 0.5 marks in all sections

The dates for the online application process for SSC CHSL 2024 exam are also notified with the release of SSC CHSL Notification 2024. The online application window will be open for a month duration from 8th April to 7th May 2024 (11 pm), therefore candidates have to apply within this period. How to Apply Online for SSC CHSL 2024?
Candidates are supposed to apply online to register and appear for SSC CHSL 2024. Below are the steps that one needs to take for successful online registration for the exam:

Step 1: Click on the official link which is provided above on this page (www.ssc.gov.in) for SSC CHSL Apply Online 2024.
Step 2: Click on New User/ Register Now Button. The registration link will open up in the new window.
Step 3: Click on New Registration in SSC CHSL 2024 application window and then click on the register button.
Step 4: To begin with the CHSL registration, candidates need to provide basic details like name, parents’ name, date of birth, email id, mobile number etc.
Step 5: Click on submit button to submit your online registration form of SSC CHSL 2024. It is advised that candidates verify their details before submitting the form. All the candidates will be issued a Registration ID for SSC CHSL 2024 exam.
Candidates are required to log in with the provided Registration ID, date of birth and password to complete registration for SSC CHSL 2024.
Step 6: In the next step, candidates would have to upload photographs and signatures following the requisites mentioned by SSC.
Step 7: Log in with your registered ID and password to complete the Part II of the application form of SSC CHSL 2024.
Step 8: After filling up the application form, candidates must preview the entire application form of SSC CHSL 2024 once to look for any glitches in the form.
Step 9: Pay the required application fee, and the payment of application fee can be made only through online payment modes such as Net-Banking, Credit/Debit cards and BHIM, UPI etc.

Skill Test for the post of DEO/ DEO Grade ‘A’ in Department/ Ministry
The speed of 15000 (Fifteen Thousand) Key Depressions per hour on a Computer will be adjudged based on the correct entry of words/ key depressions as per the given passage. The duration of the Test will be 15 (Fifteen) minutes and printed matter in English containing about 3700-4000 key depressions will be given to each candidate who would enter the same in the Computer. The passage to be entered into the computer may also be displayed on the computer screen.
Skill Test for the post of DEO/ DEO Grade ‘A’ except in Department/ Ministry
Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (Eight Thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computer‟ will be adjudged based on the correct entry of words/ key depressions as per the given passage. The duration of the Test will be 15 (Fifteen) minutes and printed matter in English containing about 2000-2200 key depressions will be given to each candidate who would enter the same in the Computer. The passage to be entered into the Computer may also be displayed on the computer screen.
